Strmol Castle

Strmol Castle is in a beautiful green setting only a short drive from Ljubljana. It stands on a small hill, overlooking a lake and the surrounding plains, with its back to the forest. The splendid castle has just undergone extensive renovations, which have left it shining as it was in the late 1930s when its last inhabitants, the influential industrialist Rado Hribar and his wife Ksenija resided here.

The cosmopolitan and extravagant couple were art lovers and hosted numerous renowned Slovenian and European society members in their castle, and now guests are invited to follow in their footsteps. The intimate historical salons are furnished with period furniture and works of art and are suitable for smaller weddings, while its terraced park is just perfect for setting up a marquee and partying until the early morning hours. Just don’t let Ksenija’s stuffed pet – a crocodile that she walked in Ljubljana’s Tivoli Park – disturb you.
